Stephens, Alabama five grandchildren, Mary Ruth Pennington of Elkins, Arkansas, Sarah Ann Pennington of Bastrop, Texas, Sheresa Green of Jackson, Alabama, Heather (Steven) Duncan of Russellville, Arkansas, and Justin (Hannah) Abernathy of Waldron, Arkansas nine great-grandchildren her daughter-in-law, Valarie Abernathy of Gravelly, Arkansas three step-children as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Mary Pennington of Ola, Arkansas, and Linda Ree Hankins and husband Steven of St. She was preceded in death by her parents her husbands, Willie Abernathy and Alonzo Lathrop one son, Chester Lee Abernathy two daughters, Willie Ann Abernathy, and Julia Ann Abernathy her son-in-law, Red Pennington and her siblings, James Roy Long, Charles Long, Robert Long, Billy Gene Long, Frances Long, Agnes Louise Long, and Dorothy Pendergrass. Most of all, Margaret cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She worked her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Yell County. Margaret was born November 7, 1928, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to George Henry and Sarah Green Long. Margaret Ann Long Abernathy Lathrop, age 94, resident of Dierks, Arkansas, and former resident of Yell County, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Dierks.
